  • Physical Therapy:

The physical therapy makes use of special physical techniques to treat pain. Strengthening exercises, stretching or massage are mainly used in this method. They help in improving the flexibilty and movement of the injured part. Also it gives improved functionality of the impaired structure. These physical therapies provide a sense of relaxation in addition to strengthening muscles.

  • TENS:

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy are helpful to provide no pain condition. They mainly make use of electrical stimulation. In this procedure, electrodes are placed on the skin at the point of pain. The electrodes produce low-voltage electrical current. This current energises the nerves present in the affected area. Thus a signal is send to the brain that reduces pain. It is a painless and effective procedure. However, they are not much effective in chronic low back pain. Hence they are often not recommended.

  • Psychological Treatment:

Pain has a severe effect on the personality of an individual. They may produce a feeling of anger, sadness, despair or hopelessness. These may, in turn, disrupt the sleep, create depression and interfere with work. The psychological treatment help in treating such disabilities. They reduces high-level stress and hence give relief to pain. They use safe and non-drug methods for treatment. They include education about indirect consequences of pain. They also help an individual in acquiring skills to face any problem.

  • Bioelectric Therapy:

Bioelectric therapy works by blocking pain messages to the brain. This therapy motivates the body to produce a chemical called endorphins. The blocking of pain message induces painful sensations in the body. These sensations are controlled by endophins. They are also helpful in acute conditions such as muscle pain, back pain, arthritis and headaches. They have disadvantage that they provide only temporary relaxation. But still it is an important element in pain treatment.

  • Exercise:

Usually short period rest is recommended for easing pain. But if the rests exceed, the pain may as well also increase. Exercise often help to erase pain in long-term disease condition. Exercises such as swimming, walking, yoga, etc are beneficial. They provide improved flexibilty, and muscle strength.
