The management of lumbar spinal stenosis includes both non-surgical and surgical methods depending upon the condition of the patient. Normally, surgical methods are employed only when non-surgical methods fail to cure the disease.
Non-surgical treatment options are aimed to reduce the inflammation and swelling around the nerve tissue and hence relieving the pain. Although they are not effective in improving the narrowness of the spinal cord but still they are helpful in relieving symptoms. It may include:

- Steroid injections
Surgical treatment is for patients with severe pain. They prefer to undergo surgical treatment to get rid of their pain. Surgical options depend upon the cause of pain and may include any of the following:
